Earlier this year, Nick Melillo of Foundation Cigar Co. announced that the Aganorsa-made El Güegüense and Wise Man Maduro lines would be discontinued and replaced with new versions produced by the Garcia family at the My Father Cigars factory. Called Wise Man Corojo and Maduro, the new cigars began shipping to retailers at the end of April and the start of May, and a new shipment is scheduled for later this week.
Wise Man Corojo
"Working with Pepín García and his family has been a dream come true, and we believe that cigar enthusiasts will appreciate the craftsmanship and flavor profiles of these new offerings,” Melillo said in a press release.
The two lines are distinguished by their respective cover leaves—the Corojo line is draped with Nicaraguan Corojo, whereas the Maduro line is rolled with a darker Mexican San Andrés wrapper. Inside, both cigar lines are all-Nicaraguan with tobaccos grown by the Garcias: two binder leaves from Estelí and Jalapa and fillers harvested in Estelí, Condega and Jalapa.
Wise Man Maduro
Both blends are available in the following vitolas: Corona, measuring 5 inches by 48 ring gauge ($10.50); Robusto, 5 1/2 by 50 ($11.50); Toro, 6 by 52 ($12.50) and Double Corona, 7 by 54 ($13.50). All sizes ship in boxes of 20.
