If you’re a fan of Cavalier Genève cigars and coronas, then you’re in luck. The Swiss cigar company announced it is expanding its Black II and BII Viso Jalapa brands, adding a corona size to both lines. The new cigars bring both brands up to six core sizes in total. They will make their debut at the TPE trade show next week in Las Vegas.
Genève classifies its Black II brand as the “old school maduro experience,” and the BII Viso Jalapa the “new school maduro experience.” The varied classifications are likely due to differences in blends, specifically with regards to the wrapper.
BII Viso Jalapa
Both cigars feature a filler and binder heavy on Habano leaf from Nicaragua and other Nicaraguan tobaccos. The Black II is wrapped in a Mexican San Andrés leaf, while the BII Viso Jalapa features viso wrapper from the Jalapa region of Nicaragua.
Black II
The cigars, just like the rest of the two brand’s portfolios, are most distinguishable by the diamond-shaped swatch of 24K gold leaf affixed to the wrapper. They were also both made at Genève’s Fabrica Centroamericana de Tabaco S.A. in Danlí, Honduras. Unlike the rest of the portfolio, the coronas will be offered in parejo, or rounded, format rather than their typical soft box-pressed presentation. The cigars measure 5 3/4 inches long by 44 ring gauge.
Both cigars will be offered in 20-count boxes and have a suggested retail price of $11.10 per stick, or $222 per box.
